Beach Park Historic Site - The Des Moines Beach Park

The Des Moines Beach Park, designated as a national historic district offers two facilities for rent:
The Picnic Shelter, and the Founder’s Lodge.
Each facility may be rented simultaneously by different user groups. The same group may rent more than one facility.

Park Amenities:
The park and accompanying amenities, except the rental facilities, are open to the general public daily from 8:00am-dusk. Amenities include walking trails, large open grassy area for play, uncovered picnic tables, and 48 parking spaces shared between the facilities and general public. Additional parking is available at the Des Moines Marina north parking lot.

NOTE: As of Spring/Summer 2009, Beach Park is under heavy construction. The Founders Lodge is still available for rentals. The Picnic Shelter is not available for rentals at this time. Renters should be advised that the play equipment in the Founders Lodge picture below has been removed from the park permanently. Updated pictures of the Founders Lodge will be replacing the current picture after construction has been completed.

Founder’s Lodge
Seating Capacity: 60

The Founder’s Lodge is the 2-story building next to the play area at the Des Moines Beach Park. The Lodge offers picturesque views of the Puget Sound and Vashon Island. Ideal for small to medium groups and receptions. The Lodge is carpeted and the small kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, sink, and counter space. Several six-foot rectangular tables (seat 6-8 people) and chairs are available. All additional equipment and supplies are the responsibility of the renter. Restrooms are located inside the Founder’s Lodge.

Mon - Thur - $25/hour
Fri - Sun - $35/hour

Group 2 = Private Parties
Mon - Thur - $30/hour
Fri - Sun - $40/hour

Group 3 = For Profit Public Events
Mon - Thur - $35/hour
Fri - Sun - $45/hour

*A Security/Cleaning Deposit is required in addition to hourly fees.

The Field House
1000 South 220th Street
The Field House is the only full-log cabin in Washington State, built in 1939 as part of a Depression-era recovery program, and was designated as a King County Historic Landmark in 1984. The Field House offers four areas available for rent: a picnic shelter, a large meeting room (Studio), a small meeting room (Indoor Playground),
and Gymnasium. Each of the areas may be rented simultaneously by different user groups. The same group may rent more than one area. The park and accompanying amenities surrounding the Field House are open to the general public daily from 8:00am - dusk,
except rental facilities listed above and both baseball fields. Amenities include a skate park, two tennis courts, a playground area, picnic tables, and 40 parking spaces.

Des Moines Activity Center

The Des Moines Activity Center is located just east of the Post Office on South 216th Street. The Center contains a large gathering room, two smaller classrooms and a full size commercial kitchen. This is an ideal location for a gathering or a wedding reception.

The picnic shelter is located inside the park approximately 100 yards from Puget Sound. The shelter contains nine (9) picnic tables, a small serving table attached to the east wall, and a four-plug outlet.  Several parking spaces are immediately next to the picnic shelter.

The park and accompanying amenities are open to the general public daily from 8:00am-dusk, except rental facilities. Amenities include a men’s and women’s restroom adjacent to the picnic shelter, a playground and swing set, walking trails, a large open grassy area for play, uncovered picnic tables, and 48 parking spaces.

10:30 am - 7:00 pm
$125 = Full Day  or
1/2 day $70

Weekend rates are Friday 5pm-Sunday
Half day times available are 10:30am-2:30pm OR 3:00-7:00pm

*Picnic Shelter rentals also require a $100 refundable deposit
